NEWS FROM THE OLIVE & BLUE CORNER

 T CLUB/CAREER ATHLETE NATIONAL PRESS RELEASE: 8.9.10

CA

Kansas City, Kan. (July 26, 2010)

The T Club Board and Tulane Athletics recently agreed to a multi-year partnership with Career Athletes becoming the first school partner in Conference USA (C-USA).

"Tulane Athletics looks forward to continuing its partnership with the T Club to provide current and former Tulane Student-Athletes with resources to help them find their career paths,"said Tulane University Director of Athletics, Rick Dickson. Career Athletes has proven to be a valuable tool and we are excited about working with them."

The partnership between Career Athletes and Tulane University provides a national representation of unique networking opportunities and career development resources for current and alumni athletes. In working with the T Club, an organization for former Green Wave student-athletes, Career Athletes will continue to assist alumni athletes in finding meaningful career and networking opportunities.

Former Tulane football student-athlete and current Assistant Director of Tulane Clubs, Terrence Jones said, "Career Athletes is a wonderful online employment tool geared towards enhancing the collegiate experience for student-athletes upon completion of their academic and athletic obligations.

The T Club Board, on behalf of its members, and Tulane's athletic department, will benefit greatly as the national database reaches all or most of our peer institutions. As the first C-USA institution to be involved in this endeavor, this marketing aspect will help us stay competitive on and off the playing field as Tulane athletics moves forward."

"From an alumni standpoint, Career Athletes' function and capabilities will allow us to have an alternative contact option for our growing alumni base across the country," said Jones.

This Online Career Community Network will provide benefits such as mentoring, professional networking, virtual career coaching and 12 years of best practices from the leading and largest career services organization assisting athletes, athletic departments and campus career centers.

The Tulane University Community Network consists of current  and alumni athletes from the institution as well as local, regional and national employers all managed and monitored by Career Athletes at its home office in the Kansas City area. Individual members of Career Athletes are also able to network with over 65,000 community members from across the nation while having access to over 5,000 career opportunities exclusive to http://www.careerathletes.com/. Career Athletes also provides Tulane Athletics the unique ability to enhance fundraising and recruiting efforts while offering a revenue share program that allows the university to receive additional  monetary resources.

DJ Washington at Career Athletes explains that beyond an athletic department's initiative assisting with career opportunities and educational resources, it also helps when there is already a foundation on campus towards academic success. "We are pleased to assist Tulane with its commitment toward career development of athletes, but it is also just as important to recognize the program's culture of achievement in community service, academic performance and athletic success," shared Washington, Vice President, Career Education and Training.

Tulane University is no stranger to success as indicated by additional achievements during the 2009-2010 academic year:

* 239 Green Wave student-athletes earned an average grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 for the year
* 14 sports earned a 3.2 GPA or better during the spring semester
* 118 student-athletes earned a spot on the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll
* 19 student-athletes received C-USA Commissioner  Academic Medal for posting a GPA of 3.75 or better
* 3 student-athletes earned CoSIDA/ESPN the magazine first team Academic All-District honors
