Stirling Highland Hotel
The Stirling Highland Hotel is located in the heart of Stirling, only 500 yards from the town's famous castle. The hotel dates back to 1854 and was formerly Stirling's High School. It has been meticulously refurbished to create a superb hotel which retains many of the original features of the property while offering all the modern comforts. The accommodations are in a new, totally-modern section of the hotel that blends beautifully with the elegant appointments of the older style. The hotel features excellent restaurants and a full health and leisure club. DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY
Day 1 :
In Transit from North America to Edinburgh, Scotland
Depart for Edinburgh, Scotland, aboard scheduled jet service, which is provide for Air Program participants. Travelers participating in the AHI Travel Air Program will enjoy advanced seat assignments on most airlines; an air price guarantee including all fuel surcharges, airport and airline taxes; arrival and departure transfers including baggage handling; and many other benefits.

Day 2 :
Stirling
Arrive in Edinburgh. Air Program passengers will be met by an AHI Travel Representative in the arrivals hall. Other passengers who arranged independent flights through AHI and are able to join the group transfer and Land Program passengers who have purchased a transfer from AHI should check the flight arrivals monitor and proceed to the group flight arrivals hall to join the awaiting AHI Travel Representative.
Transfer to the Stirling Highland Hotel and enjoy British Afternoon Tea. At your hotel, room keys will be distributed and luggage will be delivered directly to your room. Your AHI Travel Director will be with your throughout your journey to handle all program logistics and to assist with sightseeing arrangements, dinner reservations, shopping suggestions and more. The remainder of the day is at leisure for you to relax and settle into your new environment.
This evening, attend a Welcome Reception and Dinner, featuring a traditional Haggis Ceremony and festive Highland dancers.

Day 3 :
Stirling
Educational Focus: Medieval History.
Excursion: Excursion: Stirling.
Explore the magnificent Stirling Castle. See the Wallace Monument, built to honor the hero portrayed in Braveheart, William Wallace. Visit the historic site of the Battle of Bannockburn where Robert the Bruce defeated the English in 1314.

Day 4 :
Loch Lomond/The Trossachs
Educational Focus: The Stuart Line and Jacobite Rebellions.
Excursion: Loch Lomond, the Trossachs and the Pathways of Rob Roy McGregor.
Travel alongside Loch Lomond and through The Trossachs National Park. Experience the interactive exhibit at the National Park Gateway Centre and learn the facts and fiction about Rob Roy, Scotland’s infamous folk hero. After lunch, cruise along Loch Katrine on the restored steamer, Sir Walter Scott. Walk the “bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond!”

Day 5 :
Scone Palace/ Distillery
Educational Focus: Scottish Literature.
Excursion: Scone Palace and The Famous Grouse Experience.
Travel through Perth to visit Scone Palace. The kings of Scotland were crowned here on the famed Stone of Scone. Afterward, discover the secrets of Scotland’s whiskey artistry at The Famous Grouse Experience, Scotland's oldest distillery. Top the day off with a comprehensive tasting.

Day 6 :
Edinburgh
Excursion: Edinburgh and the Military Tattoo.
The city is famous for its architecture: medieval structures in the Old Town and Georgian buildings in the New Town. Visit Edinburgh Castle, and see the Royal Mile, Old Town and High Street. This evening, return to Edinburgh Castle for a spectacular and moving show of the world’s best military bands.

Day 7 :
Loch Ness
Excursion: Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness.
Journey through the heather-covered hills of the Highlands Continue to Urquhart Castle for beautiful views of Loch Ness and the chance to spot the legendary monster! Proceed to Inverness for a visit of this Capital of the Highlands.

Day 8 :
Stirling
Independent Exploration: Experience the sights and sounds of Stirling and the surrounding area on your own.
Optional Excursion: St. Andrews.
Travel to St. Andrews, the birthplace of golf. The city is home to the University of St. Andrews, the oldest university in Scotland and the third-oldest in Britain. There also are ruins of a spectacular castle built in the 1100s.
Tonight, attend a Farewell Reception, Graduation Ceremony and Farewell Dinner.

Day 9 :
Edinburgh/Return to Gateway City
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flights to North America.

For your convenience, AHI offers a flexible Air Program featuring special air fares available at an additional cost in conjunction with the Land Program.
AHI has designated specific Group Air Schedules for this departure utilizing scheduled, round-trip jet service from North America to and from Edinburgh, Scotland. Those participating on these flights will enjoy:
- Motor coach transfers between the arrival/departure airports abroad and the ship, including baggage handling.
- Prices are dependent upon dates, air routes and class of service chosen and will be reflected on your Reservation Confirmation, which will be sent to you upon receipt of your reservation. Air schedules will be sent with your Final Invoice approximately 90 days before departure.
- Prices quoted to you will include all domestic and foreign governmental airport departure taxes and fees and any applicable fuel surcharges.

OPTIONAL INDEPENDENT ACTIVITY T'ang Dynasty Dinner Show Xi'an, cosmopolitan capital of the T'ang Dynasty (618-907), was an important city on the Silk Road. Standing on the crossroad of commerce and culture, the city's affluence grew and the arts flourished as rulers of this dynasty embraced the many cultures introduced to the city. So admired was Xi'an that the ancient Japanese capitals of Nara and Kyoto were modeled after it. Join this excursion to an entertaining T'ang Dynasty Dinner Show that highlights the culture of this Chinese Golden Age.
