On Dec. 8, 2011, Tulane University announced a fund-raising campaign to build an on-campus stadium by 2014. The new stadium will be located on Ben Weiner Road, between the Reily Student Recreation Center and the James W. Wilson Jr. Center -- less than a football field away from the original Tulane Stadium. The anticipated capacity is 30,000. In addition to being the new home field for the Green Wave, the stadium will also serve as a community resource for Orleans Parish public schools, New Orleans Recreation Department activities and Louisiana High School Athletics Association events.
