"Tulane's recovery from a devastating storm has been sort of remarkable … it has become a better institution as a result of the recovery and it almost commands that people who have been associated with [the university] assist it in moving forward."
- Rich Schmidt E`66, E`67
I am a New Orleans native, so I naturally have a fondness for the city. I still have family in New Orleans and I have seen what Tulane University has done for the city and I am particularly impressed with that. Going to school in New Orleans was always a positive experience for me.
Tulane University did a lot for me and my city. I was a scholarship baseball player and could not have afforded to attend Tulane without that scholarship. I will always remember the university for giving me the opportunity to receive a great education. I am impressed with the university, not just as an educational institution, but as a leader in reforming public education in New Orleans and also as a leader in volunteer work throughout the community. I believe these two elements strongly represent what Tulane University stands for.
I typically go back to New Orleans for Tulane homecoming every other year because I enjoy it. The reunions offer another opportunity for alumni to get back together in a great city and to reconnect with the university, something I believe most would enjoy. By contacting our old classmates and taking initiative to encourage attendance, we can ensure a successful reunion. You can really make a social weekend out of it! I always look forward to getting back to New Orleans and Tulane and reuniting with old friends.
