"Tulane will always be a place where I feel the responsibility to give of myself because it gave so much to me." David J. Lonner |
My College years were a time of some of my greatest joys and my launch into the adult world, where I had a taste of freedom: intellectual, personal, and emotional. Jazz grew in my soul, a result of my time in New Orleans. I found my passion. Everything about New Orleans: Tipitina's, Fat Harry's, Nick's Bar, the Camellia Grill, Cooter Brown's, Commander's Palace, Brennan's and , of course, The Boot... they were all part of it.
My close friends at Tulane inspired me to look deep within myself and figure out what it was that I wanted to persue. College is a time and place where you realize that your life is what you make it, that its time to come up with a road map for living, and time to learn how to make your dreams become real. There were professors at Tulane who changed my life, in terms of the way they taught me to think and look at the world. Professor Edward Morse taught me how to think about organizations. He was a teacher, mentor, and compassionate listener.
It's important to remember where your roots are, and Tulane is where my roots are. I take pride in my alma mater. I care that its a well run, financially healthy school. Scott Cowen is both a great business person and great academician, and he's just got the greatest energy. He's an eternal optimist who has a genuine passion for the school. That's important to me, and its important that we're there for the university as a class, through good times and bad.
