Only In New Orleans...New Orleans is a spectacular setting for a college campus. I remember the amazing azaleas when I would ride my bike through Audubon Park and the quad. I remember dancing all night long to the Beatles at the F&M Patio Bar, eating pizza at Phillips, having a drink at Bruno's, and listening to Dave Brubeck. And who could forget the food?! |
Tulane provided the perfect place to move from being a child into adulthood – with the fellowship, freedom, and guidance to make it a safe and wonderful transition. It was an amazing combination of the familiar and doing something entirely new. After Katrina, Tulane needed a new combination, one that preserved the past yet prepared for the future. Tulane made hard choices that maintain this balance and has come back stronger than ever, directing the enthusiasm of students to programs that will inspire them beyond the short term experience of rebuilding New Orleans.
There's no way I could ever repay all Tulane has given me. Tulane is like an extended family, with some branches we may not know as well as others. But we're all connected. It takes effort and committment to maintain those relationships. Our shared experience binds us to Tulane and we owe it to ourselves and the future to see that Tulane is well prepared.
