Commencement ceremony full of music and gratitude

In a Mercedes-Benz Superdome ceremony swinging with music, academic degrees were conferred on 2,700 graduates of Tulane University on Saturday (May 19). President Scott Cowen said that the graduates, like the New Orleans musicians who serenaded them, would forever be "part of the rhythm of this city."

Surrounded by the historic oaks and academic buildings on the uptown campus, the Wave Goodbye party provided commencement celebrants with a special evening all their own. Held on Friday evening (May 18), the commencement eve celebration included hot music by Paul Sanchez and the Rolling Road Show along with New Orleans food, from tasty grilled oysters to crawfish pies.
